Video notes for Pitching Planner

Posted on: July 2, 2008 11:36 am

This week's notes for the Pitching Planner video:

-- Troy Percival back on the DL. Dan Wheeler and Grant Balfour likely to share save opportunities for the next few weeks, but Percival won't be out long. He didn't want to come out of the game in the first place and the Rays are being extra cautious.

-- Brett Myers is back in Triple-A to work on some things. He is out until late July and will be the equivalent of a trade-deadline acquisition for the first-place Phillies. J.A. Happ get a look now, perhaps prospect Carlos Carrasco later, but the Phillies are likely in play for one of the aces on a market -- Erik Bedard, C.C. Sabathia, A.J. Burnett, Greg Maddux or even Bronson Arroyo.

-- Sidney Ponson didn't do so bad in his first start with the Yankees. What kind of leagues should we trust this guy in right now?

-- Francisco Liriano and David Price were smoking in their past minor league starts. Yep, they're good. Second half stars we like tracking every time they sneeze.

Must-start two-start pitcher(s) ... pick and choose your underrated hero here:

Two-start sleepers ... owned in less than 50 percent of CBSSports.com's leagues
Mike Pelfrey NYM

... And with an Amber Wilson wink and smile: Good luck with your rotations guys!

Emack.
