Sabathia trade

If you want to pick up C.C. Sabathia in NL-only and Matt LaPorta in AL-only leagues, they are on waivers for Wednesday at 1 a.m. or so in CBSSports.com leagues.

Sabathia will start Tuesday and Sunday for Milwaukee. Jeremy Sowers likely assumes the two-start pitcher's role for Sabathia with the Indians and the No. 5 call-up could be Matt Ginter or perhaps even David Huff. Fausto Carmona (hip) likely won't be ready until after the All-Star break.

What to do with Sabathia?

You should not start him in AL leagues that lose players dealt to the other league, obviously. And many NL-only leagues he likely won't be available in time to get him for Fantasy Week 15 (July 7-13).

But you should absolutely start him in mixed leagues.

This is a great trade for Sabathia's Fantasy value, because the Brewers are a top contender with a good offense. He can be a big winner -- perhaps even a top-five Fantasy option at his position again.

LaPorta can be an Aug. 1 call-up at this point. He heads to Double-A Akron to get his feet wet, but if he merely continues his productivity in his new home, the rebuilding Indians will be anxious to call him up to get him up to speed in the majors before spring 2009 -- where he should be a full-timer either at first or left field.
